The Salem Health and Wellness Foundation
Promoting the health and wellness of Salem County residents through grants to local charitable organizations, with an emphasis on healthcare and nutrition.
Who We Are
The Salem Health and Wellness Foundation was founded in 2002 for the purpose of promoting the health and wellness of Salem County, New Jersey residents. The Foundation has made over $58 million in grants, contributions and scholarships to more than 50 organizations, all with the specific requirement that the funds address health problems in our county.
Grantmaking Programs
The foundation seeks to invest in nonprofit organizations providing services to Salem County that promote health and wellness, as defined by the Social Determinants of Health. Each grant we fund must have the greatest possible impact on improved health or wellness for individuals in Salem County. For a full list of eligibility requirements, please click here.

Mini-Grant Program
The foundation provides mini grants (up to $3,000) to support small-scale programming and events, which align with the interests of the Foundation and promotes overall health and wellness to Salem County residents.

Matching Gift Program
The foundation accepts applications annually for the Matching Gift Program in an effort to help organizations build their donor base. The general operating funds can be used as a match for other grant awards from other government or philanthropic sources. Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2023 Matching Gift Program. Please check back in January 2024 for more information on the 2024 Matching Gift Program.

Legacy Grants
The Salem Health and Wellness Foundation offers discretionary grants up to $50,000 to organizations providing programs to support employment opportunities in a healthcare related field, transportation opportunities in Salem County, and more. Salem Smart Start Initiative
The Salem Smart Start for Parents and Children was launched in 2023 to improve the health, safety and well-being outcomes for young parents and their children through an improved and reconfigured use of existing and new resources. Applications are no longer being accepted for this initiative.
